Autistic Adult Support Fund

Introduction

Autistic Adult Support Fund closed to applications on Wednesday 13th September.

The Autistic Adult Support Fund aims to help adults with an autism diagnosis, self-identified autistic adults, and their families and carers understand what neurodivergence means for them and improve their wellbeing.

The fund will provide £500,000 for the six-month period from October 2023 to end of March 2024.

Facilitated by Inspiring Scotland, and funded by the Scottish Government, the Autistic Adult Support Fund builds on the work of a pilot which ran between 2020 and 2023 to provide post diagnostic support to autistic people.

Key information

To apply for this funding, you must be a not-for-profit organisation working closely with autistic people.

Grants of up to £75,000 are available:

  1. Small grants (£15,000 to £30,000) support small, grassroots, locally-based projects.
  2. Large grants  (£30,001 to £75,000) for national or regional projects by organisations specialising in support for autistic people and their families and carers.

Successful proposals will:

  • Meaningfully involve autistic people in the development, design and delivery of the activity.
  • Be strengths based, making the most of, and building on, the skills and experiences of autistic people and assets within communities.
  • Work in partnership, with a good understanding of what others are doing locally, complementing and adding value to other relevant activity in the area.

Successful proposals for large grants will also:

  • Integrate with statutory services, showing a clear relationship and plan for this work with local provision of support for autistic adults with the local statuary service provider e.g. Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs)

Funding is available until 31 March 2024.

It is hoped that this fund will run on a recurring annual basis but is subject to Ministerial approvals as part of Scottish Government’s annual budget process.
