Our first 10 years

The story of Inspiring Scotland's first 10 years is a story about people...

Inspiring Scotland is 10 years old

The story of Inspiring Scotland’s first 10 years is a story about people. A lot of people, thousands from all around Scotland, their relationships with one another and the impact we have been able to create together.

Celia Tennant, chief executive

Thank you, from all of us.

“We are proud of the impact Inspiring Scotland has had in its first 10 years, none of which would have possible without the support of investors, the dedication of staff at the charities we support, the experience and expertise of our pro bono supporters, and trust and belief of the people of Scotland. Thank you.”

Our story is about people

Rory’s Story

To tell our story is to tell the story of the people we were set up to help, people like Rory from Callander in Stirlingshire. Rory was 6-years-old when our 10-year 14:19 Fund to support young people into training, education and employment started with funding from small group of people and organisations. By the time he was 10, Rory was struggling at home and school because of anger issues. This alienated him from his peers and he had no confidence in himself or his future.

How our launch was reported

Inspired scheme launched to help vulnerable teens

Before our official launch on the 29th of January, The Herald reported on an innovative new fund to tackle youth unemployment – our 14:19 Fund.

“The Scottish government is this week expected to announce a £10 million commitment to a venture philanthropy scheme aimed at disadvantaged youngsters worth up to £100m. Inspiring Scotland’s fund for 14 to 19-year-olds is the first in a series of new funds being launched by the Lloyds TSB Foundation, each of which will have £10m a year to spend on good causes.”
