Part of Organised Outdoor Community Play Fund.
Aberdeen Play Forum is a registered charity in Scotland that promote children’s rights to play across Aberdeen city. They believe that having access to play and all its benefits should not be dictated by the area that a child lives in or the income of their parents. The play forum help parents, educators and strategic officers to explore, and develop play opportunities through a greater understanding of the benefits of play.
Play programmes are delivered in local community, park or neighbourhood to support families in exploring the benefits of play. They also support play at nursery and school through loose parts for outdoor play and play champions programmes. The team also have a training role and support the workforce through play training; balancing benefit and risk to enable challenge and learning through play for all children.
With funding from Inspiring Scotland, they plan to provide organised, COVID-compliant play sessions to foster positive relationships with parents, carers, and children and provide encouragement and support for playing outdoors. The sessions will be organised and structured but still holding the elements of free play much loved by children.
