Support in the Right Direction
Advocacy Western Isles provides independent advocacy with all aspects of self-directed support throughout the Western Isles. This supports social care users and carers through the entire process of accessing social care to make informed choices about and take greater control of their care and ensure that they feel their voice has been heard. Support is provided to people who do not meet local authority eligibility criteria to explore their options and rights.
Today (14th May 2025) a new £3 million Bright Start Breakfasts Fund will open to applications. The fund will expand access to breakfast clubs for primary school children by combining provision of healthy and nutritious breakfast food with before-school supervision or childcare enabling early drop off for parents to support them to work or study.
