North West Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire (Home-Start Ayrshire)

Home Start Ayrshire is the host organisation for Link Up in North West Kilmarnock. The communities of Onthank, Tourhill, Alton Hill, Knockinlaw and parts of Longpark make up North West Kilmarnock – home to over 5,000 people.  Neill, the Community Facilitator, started working on Link Up late in November 2014.

The communities of Onthank, Tourhill, Alton Hill, Knockinlaw and parts of Longpark make up North West Kilmarnock – home to over 5,000 people. There is a good community network within the area and residents aim to create a secure and welcoming atmosphere. Local assets include two fantastic primary schools, a brilliant nursery, three places of worship, 4 residents associations, a popular dog grooming parlour, a scattering of good local shops, large grassed areas, football cage, youth centre, resource centre and community centre hosting activities such as badminton, homework club, recycling activities, women’s and girls zone , football, dancing, over 50s club, and coffee mornings. Recently residents have rallied together and new initiatives include a beech grove community garden and archery classes.

£3 Million Bright Start Breakfasts Fund Now Open

Today (14th May 2025) a new £3 million Bright Start Breakfasts Fund will open to applications.  The fund will expand access to breakfast clubs for primary school children by combining provision of healthy and nutritious breakfast food with before-school supervision or childcare enabling early drop off for parents to support them to work or study.
