The impact of childhood sexual abuse is devastating and long lasting. Supporting adult survivors of childhood abuse to feel connected, safe and live a more fulfilling life are key aims of the Survivors of Childhood Abuse Support (SOCAS) Fund. Established in 2020 by Scottish Government, and managed by Inspiring Scotland, the fund brings together 29 charities, who together provide vital support for survivors across Scotland.
A new report by Inspiring Scotland highlights the range and positive impact of the support delivered to survivors throughout 2021/22. Connection and collaboration have been key themes in the last year with a range of innovative practices employed to address the challenges emerging from the Covid-19 pandemic and the pressures of the rising cost of living.
‘In the last six months we have linked with over 30 organisations, including SOCAS portfolio partners, to maximise the support we provide to young women. These connections with other agencies are vital to ensure our young women access the right wrap around support that is often needed.’
