Henry is a leading advocate of children benefiting from outdoor play and looking after our natural environment. As a senior manager with the Care Inspectorate, he helped the regulator embrace the positives of adventurous play for children attending registered services. This included producing influential publications for the early learning and childcare sector, such as ‘My World Outdoors’ and ‘Gender Equal Play’. Henry has also authored standards on behalf of Scottish Government, including the Health and Social Care Standards.
Henry is interested in realising the magical power of outdoor play. Before joining the national inspectorate, Henry was an early learning and childcare provider and welcomes the opportunity to return closer to practice in his role wiht Thrive Outdoors. He is registered with the SSSC as a qualified Social Worker and is on the Board of the International Play Association Scotland. In his spare time Henry also chairs Tranent Wombles, a local community litterpicking and environmental group.
